Agadia is garnering recognition through the work done with its clients on the leading edge of healthcare IT. The platform described in this award announcement, was built by Agadia using its PAHub and integrated Doctor Portal solutions, enhanced in cooperation with Express Scripts.

“CIO Magazine has recognized Express Scripts as an organization that exemplifies the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology by naming it to its 26th Annual CIO 100 list. Every year, CIO magazine identifies and honors 100 organizations that have distinguished themselves by creating business value through the effective and innovative use of IT.

“The attributes of the CIO 100 directly align with the three strategic imperatives I’ve established for our IT organization: ensure reliability and security; develop innovative business solutions to address regulatory, clinical and client needs; and position Express Scripts for the future,” said Gary Wimberly, senior vice president & chief information officer. “Earning this award is a great achievement for our IT and specialty pharmacy organizations, and validation of the leading-edge solutions we are contributing to the industry.”

Express Scripts earned its place on this impressive list for its industry-leading ExpressPAth platform. In April, ExpressPAth earned top honors at the Gateway to Innovation conference in St. Louis.

“ExpressPAth provides a capability never before seen in the healthcare industry,” said Glen Stettin, MD, senior vice president, Clinical, Research & New Solutions. “It uses actionable data to address the costs and complex clinical challenges of specialty medications by providing prescribers with real-time information on coverage and clinical rules to encourage optimal prescribing decisions. ExpressPAth also ensures that every dollar spent is appropriate for the patient’s treatment, and can seamlessly manage claims under both the pharmacy and medical benefit.”

The recipients of this year’s CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of 42 judges reviewed the applications in-depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges’ recommendations and voted on the final 100. In 2013, CIO received nearly 400 applications.

“For 26 years now, the CIO 100 awards have honored the innovative use of technology to deliver genuine business value,” said Maryfran Johnson, editor-in-chief of CIO Magazine & Events. “Our 2013 winners are an outstanding example of the transformative power of IT to drive everything from revenue growth to competitive advantage.”
